MyPlate – The new dietary guidelines

Late last week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture unveiled MyPlate — a new graphic that represents the Dietary Guidelines, meant to replace the familiar (and somewhat confusing) Food Pyramid.

It’s an interesting approach, and about time it changed. Life is very different today than what it was just a few years ago, so naturally the dietary requirements are different as well. This seems more in line with our current lifestyles, although I haven’t gone through it thoroughly. Just thought I’d pass it on.

On eating while running

A good article on the importance of fueling up to maintain energy levels during long runs. And tips on how to do it for those who feel nauseous eating while running. It doesn’t bother me, but I know it’s an issue for some.

Fueling in frequent, small doses is critical for success at the marathon distance.
